Vocational Training and Life Skills Support

Our Voc-Ed team works closely with our therapists and mental health counselors to develop individualized plans for each resident, incorporating job skills training and/or independent living skills based on assessments conducted by the team. Our Voc-Ed team needs to create that one-on-one relationship with each resident to determine their best needs and how their trauma has been affecting their ability to participate in these programs. Based on their needs, each individual in the Vocational and Independent Living Skills program receives instruction in resume writing and interview skills development to enhance their marketability and increase their chances of securing employment. With the guidance of the Voc-Ed team, residents can secure both paid and volunteer positions in the workforce, gaining practical, hands-on experience. In addition, the team assists our kids with filing taxes, voter registration, college applications, and FAFSA forms, as well as enrolling in internship opportunities.
